August’s checklist for your hives:
Here are some “to do”s for your hives in August.
Check the Mite counts either by powdered sugar or an alcohol wash!
Do this first thing in the morning when it’s the coolest part of the day.
Pull and extract excess honey if you have any on your hives and then treat the hives after you pulled the Honey off.
Watch for wax worms on extracted honey frames and freeze for 48 hours to kill any worms and eggs.
Make sure your water source is clean, fresh water and does not have mosquito larvae in it. Make sure the water source is NOT directly in front of the hive, but near enough to keep the bees from going to your neighbor’s pool.
